Upgrading from V5.0.2.0

Please follow the following steps to upgrade a site from Sitecore V5.0.2.0 to 5.0.7.3 release.

This scenario is also applicable for upgrading of V5.0.2.0 to any subsequent release before 5.0.7.3.

Note: you need to upgrade to Sitecore 5.0.7.3 before you can upgrade to the latest release.

Before beginning this or any Sitecore upgrade, be sure to make a full backup of your existing site.

Install New Sitecore Version that you want to upgrade to

Sitecore stores some files outside of the database. Copy these files now.

Use the packager to install the upgrade package.

Use the Publishing Wizard to perform a full publish of the site.

Rebuild the Search Index and Links database.

Remove the default item from the Admin user.

Visit your site and verify that all original functionality has not been negatively impacted.
